Stepping stones

I emailed an academic adviser at the U of U a couple of weeks ago. We decided it would be best if we made an appointment to meet in person considering the fact that I have no more classes I can take at SLCC so it is time to take a big step and apply for the BSW program at the U. With this Major I will be protecting children who cannot speak for themselves because they are to young too do so. I would want nothing more than to protect these kids and who deserve to have a better life. I was pretty excited thinking that I'm going to be done with school sooner then expected but, the more I think about it the more nervous I get. The application is pretty big and I have to do some writing about my self and the program. I would consider myself to be pretty good writer (when it comes to important stuff like school) but writing is something that they are going to be focusing on... which is a scary thought. We mapped out what my classes are going to be like for the next 2 years and my credit hours per semester are looking to be about 13-16. As some of you know I have a hard time doing full credit hour semesters due to some focus issues and overwhelming problems, so the last year and a half I have been taking 9 -10 credit hours.  13-16 is going to be a change and also very tough for me but with help and focus I'm sure I will be just fine.  By the end of my program I will be 8 credit hours short of graduation which means I have 1 of 2 options..

1) I can take random electives that go towards my major which will help with my credit hours..

or...

2) I can apply for a 2nd program (minor) which is a substance abuse and therapy program

Thoughts?

I'm leaning more towards the substance abuse since it will add more education and background for me when I graduate.

All in all, This is a great opportunity for me but change is always so unpredictable and scary. My application needs to be submitted by Oct 1st and if I am accepted I will be well on my way to reaching my goal of graduation. But... If I am not accepted I will be pushed out another semester. I also have to apply for the U of U... Wish me luck everyone, for this is a big and important step into my future.
